MSCS (Executive)

An Overview:

The Master of Science in Computer Science (Executive) program is housed under Faculty of Science and Engineering. The teaching faculty comprises highly qualified and experienced professors as well as bright young faculty members. Research is of high priority in the Faculty.

Career Opportunities:

The purpose of the Master of Science in Computer Science (Executive) program is to produce computer engineers in computer science and information technology to meet the needs of expanding job market. Graduates from this area will play an effective role in academic and research activities. This program is designed especially for the Executives who are working in different fields.

Admission Requirements:

Thecandidates must fulfill the following requirements for admission in Master of Science in Computer Science (Executive):
B.Sc.in Engineering/Mathematics/Statistics/Physics/Applied Physics/Electronics or minimum Bachelor degree with Diploma in Computer Science /Engg.  or 4 years of work experience in relevant fields.

Degree Requirements:

(a)          Completion of 48 credits
(b)          Passing all courses individually and maintaining a minimum CGPA of 3.0

Curriculum:

A student under normal work load will have 12 Credits per semester for this undergraduate program. The program with 48 credits will be required to complete the Master’s degree. These credits are divided into two areas:

  1. Pre-requisite  Courses and
  2. Core Courses

Upon acceptance, students will receive a copy of their planned academic program. Students are encouraged to meet periodically with the program director to discuss academic progress, career, placement and special needs.

Admission Requirements:

Thecandidates must fulfill the following requirements for admission in Master of Science in Computer Science (Pre-requisite):

Minimum Bachelor Degree with Computer Literacy.

Degree Requirements:

A total of 54 Credits of graduate course work and 6 Credits thesis work are required for the M.Sc. degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.0. Depending on undergraduate preparation, students can reduce Credits by as many as 24 Credits and waivers for which a student may be eligible. However, a minimum of 36 Credits must be taken at IBAIS University.

The M.Sc. curriculum for students with a four-year Computer undergraduate degree will generally consist of 36 Credits or less of 500-level courses. Students who have poor undergraduate’s grades or have not taken undergraduate computer courses in computer programming, database concepts, algorithms, system analysis, digital logic, computer organization, assembly language and mathematics will be required to take the equivalent. Students may be required to take one or more English courses. Pre-requisite courses are at the 500-level.

M.Sc. Waiver Policy

Waiver may be given for Pre-requisite courses as detailed below:

To apply for pre-requisite undergraduate credits equivalents, a student must have an average grade of `C+’ or better and courses must have been taken within the past 5 years.

Programming Language (MCS 501) and Programming Language Lab (MCS 502) are equivalent to Structured Programming Language and Structured Programming Language Lab at IBAIS University.

Discrete Mathematics (MCS 503) is equivalent to Discrete Mathematics at IBAIS University.
Numerical Methods (MCS 505) is equivalent to Numerical Methods at IBAIS University.

Database Concepts (MCS 521) and Database Concepts Lab (MCS 522) are equivalent to Database Management System and Database Management System Lab at IBAIS University.

Data Structure and Algorithms (MCS 571) and Data Structure and Algorithms Lab (MCS 572) are equivalent to Data Structure, Data Structure Lab, Algorithms and Algorithms Lab at IBAIS University.

System Analysis & Design (MCS 593) and System Analysis & Design Lab (MCS 594) are equivalent to System Analysis & Design and System Analysis & Design Lab at IBAIS University.
