Economics is the most vibrant of all social sciences in modern history. Learning Economics has always been most fascinating for brilliant students. Its academic challenges are the envy of other sciences. The Department of Economics at IBAISUniversity intends to become a very strong and resourceful Economics in Bangladesh. The teaching faculty comprises highly qualified and experienced professors as well as bright young economists. Research is of high priority in the department.
Carrier Opportunities:
The BSS program in Economics is designed to meet the challenges of modern time by producing economists who can meet the demand of the private sectors, the non-profit sectors, and the government agencies, especially for banking and financial organizations. Students are trained in both theoretical and applied aspects of Economics, Development and Business. The program stresses a strong foundation in econometric and other sophisticated tools, and their applications. Keeping in view the demand in the job market, programs in Economics are flexible but rigorous to get a grip on the challenges of globalization.
Admission Requirements:
A higher secondary certificate or its equivalent in Science, Arts, Commerce or other fields of study is the basic educational requirement. Minimum qualifying GPA to be eligible to apply is 2.5 individually in SSC/ 'O' level and HSC/ ‘A’ level examinations. For all foreign certificates, the University as per rules of Bangladesh Government will determine equivalence.
Degree Requirements:
The BSS degree requirements are as follows:
(a) Completion of 41 courses (120 Credits)
(b) Completion of the dissertation with at least a ’C +’ grade (6 credit hours)
(c) Passing all courses individually and maintaining a minimum CGPA of 2.5.
Curriculum:
A student under normal work load will have 12 Credits per semester for this undergraduate program. Four- year program with 120 credits will be required to complete the Bachelor degree. These credits are divided into three areas:

The MBA students are required to choose an area of major among a list of alternatives. The provision for double major is also available. Degree Requirements:
A total of 60 Credits are required for the MBA degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.0. Depending on undergraduate preparation, students can reduce Credits by as many as 18 credits and for which a student may be eligible. However, a minimum of 42 credits must be taken at IBAISUniversity.
The MBA curriculum for students with a four-year Business undergraduate degree/BBA/M.Com./PGD will generally consist of 42 Credits or less of 500 level courses. Students having poor undergraduate grades or have not being taken undergraduate business courses in Management, Business and Statistics will be required to take the equivalent. Students may be required to take one or more English courses. Pre-requisite courses are at the 500 level.

A student of this program requires 12 Credits per semester under the coverage of a normal academic work load and 5 semesters will be required for completion of MBA degree assuming that a normal work load is taken. According to international standard, mid-level and upper-level executives having four years of experience in relevant fields can directly admit into the MBA program. BBA (Special)
An Overview:
The primary objective of this Evening BBA program is to facilitate those who have only Bachelor (Pass)/Associate/ Diploma (2-4 years) Degree. Due to these degrees, graduates face so many problems in their academic and professional career. So, the aim and pursuit of this BBA (Evening) program is to assist the above mentioned students to get a unique Bachelor degree in business administration. That's why the BBA (Evening) program is designed in 8 semesters where 30 Credits are given waiver as for the prior academic & professional qualifications of the students. Classes start at 6.30 pm in the week days and weekends.

The BBA Program is designed to produce graduates with art of knowledge, skills and understanding of functioning both modern and conventional business enterprises. The purpose of the program is to acquaint students with business theories and their real world applications from economic, social, cultural, technological and managerial perspectives. The program is very rigorous to prepare and empower students in pursuing a successful career in business enterprises. The program is especially designed to produce professional and skilled managers for banking, other financial institutions, national and multinational corporations.
Admission Requirements:
BA/B.Sc./B.Com. (Pass)/Associate/Diploma (2-4 years) Degree in any discipline.
Degree Requirements:
(a) Completion of 33 courses & Dissertation (105 Credits)
(b) Passing all courses individually and maintaining a minimum CGPA of 2.5.
Curriculum:
A student under normal work load will have 12 Credits per semester for this undergraduate program. The program with 105 credits will be required to complete the Bachelor degree. These credits are divided into three areas:
